Architect of the day...

Davis Design

Alright, so Thom Davis did it....He made my Tuesday and it is 8:01am. This house just made me giddy for the first time in a while about the profession i question often - my own - architecture. Maybe it is because i just watched that video below and i am feeling the need to fulfill some void of curiousity, but i can't help the obvious. I saw this and i got excited because there is something out there that i have never seen before and at the same time - adore. Should that not be what all artists strive for? Inspiration. What is innovative art without it? Thank you, Thom, for keeping this work engine of mine going a bit longer. For critique's sake though, could you just erase the lone window on the second floor for me? maybe put some birch wood siding to match the fascia board over it all the way down to the ground.

Lee Jang Sub has some pretty pretty stuff...

I have always had a thing for plans of cities, urban design, the beauty of the grid - illuminating it like this really puts the subtle beauty and softness that the hard lines of the imagery needs. I might not know what i am talking about in all actuality. I am preoccupied with the fact that my spacebar key on my keyboard is squeaking every time I press it....how annoying.

56 Leonard St....

Herzog & de Meuron's latest skyscraper on Leanord in NYC. Not sure what I think yet. Some of the images are beautiful, but I think the building starting to deconstruct itself 3/4 of the way up doesn't sit right with me. There is something too simple about the transition that I can't put my finger on. None the less, it is still beautiful, I am still in awe of any architect that can push the limits. Very Moshe Safdie - Habitat 67, no?

I think my favorite part of the entire bldg, and this isn't saying much for the architecture unintentionally, is the Anish Kapoor sculpture on the ground floor. Now THAT is a transition, haha! I love it!

Fleet Foxes fans...

I wish I had you tube when i was this young and enthusiastic...i think my friends and i would just turn the music up in the car and pretend we were being video taped...

New home on dairy farm...

I wonder what kind of glazing she put behind the wood slats? Most of the addition was made with local materials, but I doubt they had some left over glass on the site...milk bottles? haha! None the less, this is gorgeous - I really like the Matta-Clark-esque split that she made such a focal point...
